Fans of Game of Thrones will be pleased to know that George RR Martin might have confirmed one among many fan theories that suggest that fan-favourite Jon Snow is Azor Ahai. Well, if this is true, and Jon follows the path of a legendary hero in Game of Thrones season 8, then his journey is going to be darker than before.

Over the years, fans of Game of Thrones have come up with different theories about the characters and their fate in the world-acclaimed show. At first, there were theories about Jon Snow's true lineage that somehow gave the world a famous equation, R+L= J, which somehow got right by the end of season seven.

Post that, many started to question whether Jon Snow will live till the end or will he die fighting the White Walkers? As earlier mentioned, if Jon is Azor Ahai, then the chances of his survival are pretty slim.

In a promotional video for Game of Thrones, the 70-year-old Martin confirmed a huge theory about Jon Snow. In the video, Martin is discussing Balerion the Dragon, one of the three dragons Aegon the Conqueror brought to the Westeros.

"[There] is a lot of speculation that in some sense he [Aegon] saw what was coming 300 years later, and wanted to unify the Seven Kingdoms to be better prepared for the threat that he eventually saw coming from the north — the threat that we are dealing with in A Song of Ice and Fire."

In the earlier episodes, the Red Witch — Melisandre — talked about Azor Ahai, the legendary warrior who lived thousands of years ago and helped in reuniting all the Seven Kingdoms and fought against the Great Others — the White Walkers of that era.

The Red Witch believed that Azor Ahai was the Prince who was promised and that it was Stannis Baratheon, but when he died, she changed her reading and claimed that the Great Prince is Jon Snow.

In season seven, it was confirmed that Jon Snow is a Targaryen. Now, many are believing that Aegon apparently left his family line in Westeros, in a hope that one day, his descendants would take the mantle and fight against the White Walkers.

Well, it would be pretty interesting to see Jon Snow becoming the legendary warrior, who fights with a special sword. More will be unveiled when season eight of Game of Thrones will premiere on HBO next year.
