Geetha Govindam, starring Vijay Devarakonda and Rashmika Mandanna, has done super pre-release business as its theatrical rights for various areas have fetched record-breaking prices.
Vijay Devarakonda is just some movies old in the industry, but he has made it very big in a short span of time with back to back hits like Pelli Choopulu, Arjun Reddy and Mahanati. The success of these movies has generated a lot of hype and curiosity about his next outing Geetha Govindam, which is set to hit the screens on Augt 15. The promos have taken its hype to the next level.
The hype surrounding Geetha Govindam had created a huge demand for its theatrical rights around the world and several leading distribution houses were vying to bag its rights. Just a day before its release, we hear that the makers have sealed the deals on the sales of rights for all the areas. The movie has garnered record prices, which are the highest for a solo film of Vijay Devarakonda.
Geetha Govindam has reportedly fetched Rs 10.50 crore from the sale of theatrical rights for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The movie has earned Rs 1.30 crore from its Karnataka rights and Rs 0.50 crore from the sale of its rights for other parts of India. Its overseas distribution rights have been sold for a whopping price of Rs 2.70 crore. The film has earned a total of Rs 15 crore from its theatrical rights.
Vijay Devarakonda's last solo outing Arjun Reddy earned Rs 6 crore from its distribution rights. Geetha Govindam's earnings are almost two times higher than that of his previous outing. Now, the question is that whether Geetha Govindam will be able to recover the distributors' investment and get them some profits.
Arjun Reddy collected a total of Rs 50 crore gross at the worldwide box office and Rs 25.80 crore for its distributors. Geetha Govindam is much bigger than Arjun Reddy in terms of star power, hype, curiosity, promotion and volume of release. Hence, it will easily recover its distributors' investments.
Geetha Govindam is a romantic comedy film, which has been written and directed by Parasuram and produced by Bunny Vas under the banner GA2 Pictures. Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna have played the lead roles and the sparking chemistry between the two, which is eveident in the promos, has impressed the viewers and created a lot of curiosity about the movie.
