Jamal Lyon (Jussie Smollett) is likely to capture all the attention of the viewers when "Empire" returns on Fox with the second episode of season 2 titled "Without a Country" on Wednesday, 30 September.

The sequel will introduce fans to the gradual character change for Lucious' (Terrence Howard) son as he decides to take his responsibilities more seriously. Towards the end of the episode Smollett's character might turn out to be the next badass in the show.

In the premiere episode, the followers of the music drama saw Jamal struggling to find time for music. He even gets angry with Cookie (Taraji P Henson) when she tells him to get back home immediately. But everything will change once the talented gay-singer decides to take the company to new heights.

The official synopsis of "Without a Country" read: "In Lucious' absence, Jamal neglects his music and makes business moves that further his journey towards becoming every bit as ruthless as his father".

So chances for Smollett's character to follow in the footsteps of his mother and move against his father cannot be ignored. But things might turn against the new CEO of Empire Entertainment after the hip hop mogul records an epic track from inside jail.

On the other hand, Cookie and her cohorts decide to start their own small record label in the second episode of "Empire" season 2. But it's off to a bumpy start as everyone has different visions for the new label.

For instance, Hakeem decides to form a girl group as his first project for the new company and woos a hot Latina lead singer (guest star Becky G), proving that he can be more than just an artist.

Meanwhile, fans of the popular Fox series will also get to watch Andre Royo as the new lawyer of Lucious whom he appoints after feeling extra pressure from a bloodthirsty prosecutor.

Fox will air "Empire" season 2 episode 2 titled "Without a Country" at 9pm on Wednesday, 30 September.
