John Cena and Nikki Bella would have celebrated their sixth anniversary as a couple this week. The madly-in-love couple parted ways after the 41-year-old said he didn't want children. Although the couple reunited to give the relationship a second chance, Bella called off the wedding last month when she realised that it wasn't working out.
Despite the breakup, Cena still has a special place in the 34-year-old's heart. Her recent Instagram post is a proof of it.
The Total Bellas star took to the social media platform to share an image with the words: "You've changed me forever. I'll never forget you," along with the caption, "8/9 | 6."
Her post comes a day after Cena took to Twitter to share a cryptic message slamming promises. The WWE star tweeted, "The promises you make mean nothing compared to those you keep."
The couple were engaged and were set to walk down the aisle at a destination wedding in Napa, California, on May 5. However, the couple called off the wedding just weeks before the event. Bella issued a joint statement:
"While this decision was a difficult one, we continue to have a great deal of love and respect for one another. We ask that you respect our privacy during this time in our lives."
With every passing episode of Total Bellas, the star opened up about her thoughts on her relationship with Cena and their breakup.
"After I called off the engagement, we tried to work on our relationship to get back to where it was, and in order to move forward with our wedding. After much time and soul-searching alone and together, we have decided to officially part ways," Bella told E! News.
"I had a beautiful and loving 6-year relationship with a wonderful man. I have the utmost respect for John, but I know this is what's best for me."
