Elon Musk and Shivon Zilis split: Neuralink executive says billionaire ended relationship with 'no warning'

Elon Musk and Shivon Zilis have reportedly ended their relationship, with Zilis revealing on X that the billionaire abruptly ended things after the couple had been together for several years.

Zilis, a Neuralink executive and the mother of four of Musk's children, said the breakup came unexpectedly. "It's hard to go from in love to let go in a week with no warning," she wrote in a post on Friday, October 2.

Despite the split, Zilis struck a supportive tone in her statement. She said she was grateful to have been able to provide Musk with what she described as stability, understanding and love. She also said she was hurting but continued to care deeply about Musk and wished him happiness.

Zilis shares details of final exchange

Along with her statement, Zilis shared screenshots of what appeared to be recent text messages between her and Musk. In one exchange dated September 24, she told Musk that it was wonderful to see him for breakfast and wrote that she loved him. Musk reportedly replied that he loved her too.

Musk also appeared to tell Zilis that he would have invited her to a White House state dinner with Chinese President Xi Jinping had he known that significant others could attend. Zilis responded that the message meant a lot to her.

The exchange came only days before Zilis publicly announced the breakup, highlighting how sudden the split appeared from her account.

Zilis hopes to co-parent with Musk

Zilis said she was grateful for the four children she shares with Musk and expressed hope that the two could remain friends and co-parents.

The couple welcomed twins Strider and Azure in 2021. Their daughter Arcadia was born in 2024, while their son Seldon Lycurgus was born in 2025.

Zilis described her children as the most important positive outcome of the relationship and said she was "beyond grateful" for them.

Musk has not publicly responded

The breakup announcement followed reports that Musk had unfollowed Zilis on X. Zilis had also posted a cryptic message reading "New day, new life" days before revealing that the relationship had ended.

As of the latest reports, Musk had not publicly responded to Zilis' breakup statement. Representatives for Musk and Zilis had also not immediately commented on the announcement.

Zilis, who works as an executive at Musk's Neuralink, has previously spoken publicly about their relationship during legal proceedings. The two have also worked together through Musk's broader technology ventures.
