Dhurandhar: The Revenge

Dhurandhar: The Revenge has fetched a massive valuation for its OTT rights months before its theatrical release. It has earned the highest ever price for a Hindi movie, say the experts.

Dhurandhar has become a blockbuster success with its collection of Rs 1,350 crore at the worldwide box office. It has registered 7.6 million views from its OTT release in a few days. Both the numbers are the highest for a Hindi film in recent years. It has fetched huge earnings for all its stakeholders.

The huge success of Dhurandhar has created massive hype and expectation about Dhurandhar: The Revenge, which is set to hit the screens on March 19. There is a lot of demand for its various rights. With the movie making waves on digital platforms, several OTT platforms are coming forward with record prices for its rights.

Building on this momentum, the makers of Dhurandhar 2 have reportedly secured a high-value OTT deal even before the sequel has been released in cinemas. According to the reports, Jio Hotstar has acquired the streaming rights for Dhurandhar 2 for around Rs 150 crore. This figure stands out as one of the largest digital rights deals in recent times for a film prior to its theatrical release.

The digital rights for the first Dhurandhar were reportedly sold for an amount of around Rs 85 crore. The staggering Rs 150 crore price tag for the OTT rights of Dhurandhar 2 is nearly double the amount fetched by the first installment. The phenomenal response for the first part is getting it such a big valuation for the sequel.

Before Dhurandhar even hit theaters, Netflix was said to have shown interest in acquiring both parts as a bundle in a three-digit crore deal. However, the makers chose to wait and ultimately opted for a separate arrangement that paid off significantly.

The music rights of Dhurandhar 2 have also received a record price. The combined revenue from its audio and OTT rights is believed to have already helped the producers recover a large portion of their investment ahead of the film's theatrical release. Its theatrical rights are expected to recover the remaining portion of their investments and fetch some amount of profit share.
