Delhi sub-inspector's son arrested for raping widow and her daughter for three weeks

A 23-year-old youth, son of a Delhi sub-inspector, was arrested on Friday on the charges of raping a widow and her 15-year-old daughter for three weeks in Gurugram (formerly Gurgaon). He had also filmed the cruel act and blackmailed them in keep mum. Just a few weeks ago, three men had gangraped a woman and killed her baby in Haryana, raising serious concerns about women safety.

After inquiry, the police said that they have found 10 such videos on the youth's cellphone which had been shot in the woman's house where she lived with her two kids.

According to police, Ashish Kumar is a BA final-year student. He was at the woman's house when the police arrested him on Friday. The woman had gathered courage to call up the police when she realised that Kumar's was targetting her daughter, too.

The woman, who hailed from Uttarakhand, had lost her husband last year and worked in a private firm. Her daughter is studying in class 10 in a government school. She told the police that she started talking to Kumar when they earlier met at the market. In the complaint, she said that she found nothing suspicious about him which is why she gave him her address. Police said Kumar was booked under sections 376 (rape), 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC and sections 4 and 12 of the POCSO Act.
