Indira Gandhi International Airport on Thursday issued a public health advisory for passengers arriving from or transiting through Ebola-affected countries, urging travellers showing symptoms of the disease to immediately report to airport health authorities.
In a post on X, Delhi Airport shared the advisory issued by the Directorate General of Health Services under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The advisory applies to passengers arriving from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda and South Sudan, which have been identified as high-risk countries based on updates from the World Health Organization.
Travellers experiencing symptoms such as fever, vomiting, weakness, diarrhoea, headache, unexplained bleeding, muscle pain or sore throat have been asked to report to the Airport Health Officer or health desk before immigration clearance. Passengers who had direct contact with the blood or body fluids of suspected or confirmed Ebola patients have also been instructed to inform airport health authorities.

The advisory further stated that travellers developing symptoms within 21 days of arrival should seek immediate medical attention and disclose their recent travel history to healthcare officials.
Delhi Airport urged passengers to cooperate with health screening and public health measures in the interest of passenger safety and compliance with International Health Regulations.
The advisory comes amid rising global concern over Ebola outbreaks in parts of Africa. According to reports, the Democratic Republic of the Congo has recorded 131 suspected deaths and 513 suspected Ebola cases in the latest outbreak. DRC Health Minister Roger Kamba said the deaths were reported in affected regions, though not all fatalities had been confirmed as Ebola-related.
Meanwhile, Jordan on Wednesday temporarily banned the entry of travellers from the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda following Ebola concerns.
The Ebola health emergency has also impacted India's diplomatic calendar, with the Ministry of External Affairs and the African Union announcing the postponement of the India-Africa Forum Summit-IV, which was scheduled to be held in New Delhi from May 28 to 31. In a joint statement, both sides cited the "evolving health situation in parts of Africa" as the reason behind the decision.
