Dulquer Salmaan and Parvathy's film "Charlie" was released on 24 December as a Christmas gift to the Kerala audience. The Martin Prakkat directorial, which is expected to create box office wonders, is one of the most anticipated movies of the year.

The film has been the talk of the town ever since it went on floors and the pre-release hype it got after its songs and trailer were made public raised the expectations of the audience. Many fans watched the first day first show of "Charlie" in theatres across Kerala and have also named it as 'Charlie Day'. The movie has been getting positive responses from the audience.

Following the massive response the movie received, director Martin had claimed that "Charlie" is not an extraordinary but a simple love story. The film has raised the expectations of the audience as it is the second outing of the actor-director duo after their hit film "ABCD" in 2013.

"It good to have some kind of expectations about the film, but knowing that people are having a lot of expectation makes me nervous. Most of the gossips related to 'Charlie' are been circulated online due to these over expectations and viewers' love towards Dulquer," Martin told in a recent interview.

After proving their on-screen chemistry in Anjali Menon's "Bangalore Days" as Arjun and RJ Sarah, the most loved Mollywood pair Dulquer and Parvathy will be seen as Charlie and Tessa in the latest movie. Apart from them, "Charlie" also has Aparna Gopinath, Nedumudi Venu, Soubin Shahir and Chemban Vinod in significant roles. While Gopi Sundar has composed the music, Jomon T. John handledthe cinematography.

Co-produced by Martin Prakkat, Joju George and Shebin Becker, "Charlie" has locked horns with Manju Warrier and Master Sanoop's "Jo and the Boy" at the Kerala box office. 

Meanwhile, the trailer of Prithviraj Sukumaran's upcoming movie "Paavada" has also been screened along with "Charlie".
