Celebrity-chef Anthony Bourdain's suicide had sent shockwaves across the world, two months ago. Bourdain was a celebrated chef who was known to travel across countries as a travel documentarian, exploring their food and culture.
CNN aired the last few episodes of Bourdain's show, 'Parts Unknown' as a tribute to him. Bourdain was in the midst of shooting the 12th season when he passed away. CNN will now use his audio to complete the series. The 12th and final season of 'Parts Unknown' is all set to premiere in the fall.
CNN is also working on a documentary on the life of Anthony Bourdain. A Vanity Fair article reported that CNN is in collaboration with Zero Point Zero to produce a feature documentary on Bourdain.
The documentary depicting the life of the renowned chef is likely to be released in theatres early 2019 followed by a premiere in CNN channel.
Amy Entelis, CNN's executive vice president for talent and content, told Vanity Fair, "As well as we knew Tony," she said, "because he did reveal himself in the series, there was still a hunger to know more about him and to honor his work and celebrate him. The documentary format became one of the more obvious ways to go."
