Richard Castle to take up new role in 'Castle' season 7 episode 11.Facebook/Castle

When ABC's crime drama "Castle" returns on TV Screens with season 7, Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion) will not be a part of The New York City Police Department (NYPD). In fact, he will take up the role of a private investigator in episode 11.

In the mid-season finale episode of the show, titled "Bad Santa", Rick gets kicked out from the police department for his Mafia connection.

In the new sequel, the former mystery novelist obtains a P.I. licence and shows up unannounced at Beckett's crime scene, hoping to investigate alongside her as a private eye, states the official synopsis of episode 11 titled "Castle, P.I."

However, things does not move in favour of Rick and his wife Det. Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) and the series will focus on a battle between the two as they make efforts to resolve the case first.

"Castle's not at the precinct, but he's writing and keeping busy, and Beckett and everybody's kind of acclimated to his absence," Christian Today quoted showrunner David Amann as saying.

While teasing that the mid-season premiere episode of "Castle" will focus on Richard's struggles as a private investigator, Amann also informed that he will rejoin the police department soon.

"Castle" season 7 episode 11 will be telecast on ABC by 12 January.
