Vikas Dubey, wanted in killing of 8 policemen in Kanpur, arrested in MP's Ujjain

In a big success for the Police,  terrorist Vikas Dubey, who has been on the run for a week after the killing of eight police personnel in Kanpur encounter, has finally been arrested on Thursday, July 9. According to the initial reports the Dubey was spotted in a Ujjain's Mahakal temple, Madhya Pradesh. 

According to Ashish Singh, Ujjain Collector, Vikas was going to Ujjain Mahakal temple when he was identified by security personnel. Police were informed, he confessed his identity after being pushed for it. He has been apprehended by police and interrogation is underway. 

He was said to be moving around without a mask in the temple vicinity. He has whisked away to an unidentified location for medical examination and questioning, according to police sources.

Narottam Mishra, Madhya Pradesh Minister said, "It is a big success for the police, Vikas Dubey is a cruel killer. Whole Madhya Pradesh police were on alert. He has been arrested from Ujjain Mahakal temple. We have informed Uttar Pradesh Police." 

Did Vikas Dubey surrender? 

After the arrest, reports surfaced that Dubey surrendered to the police himself. According to sources he reached the temple around 8 am and then informed the security men about his identity asking them to inform the police. 

5 close aides of Vikas Dubey shot dead

Five associates of Vikas Dubey have been shot dead in Uttar Pradesh after the killing of eight policemen last week in Bikru village in the dead of the night as they were ambushed by Dubey's men.

Two of his associates, Prem Prakash Pandey and Atul Dubey were shot dead on June 3, hours after the massacre. Amar Dubey was shot dead on Wednesday in Hamirpur and Prabhat and Bauan Dubey were shot dead in Kanpur and Etawah respectively, on Thursday morning. All of them were reportedly involved in the shootout.
