Apart from the luxurious cars and SUVs, German premium carmaker BMW is also known for the performance-spec models derived from in-house performance arm - M. The M division cars are the machines for the enthusiast and the latest to join India portfolio is the M2 Competition.

BMW India has priced the M2 Competition at Rs 79.90 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The M2 Competition is essentially a hotter version of the 2 Series coupe, which never sold in India. The M2 Competition is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre, six-cylinder engine that also powers the M3 and M4.

The mill develops 410hp power and 550Nm of torque, which is up by 40hp and 84Nm over the M2. All this power is sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

BMW claims the boost in performance pushes the M2 Competition from 0 to 100kmph in just 4.2 seconds with a top speed of 250kmph. To make the M2 Competition driving exciting, the car gets three driving modes (Comfort, Sport and Sport+).

The standard Active M Differential on the rear axle and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) have also been added to match the upgraded dynamics.

Complementing its potent engine, the BMW M2 Competition also gets some aggressive styling cues. These include larger cooling ducts, a redesigned kidney grille with black touches and headlights with adaptive LED function as standard. M-style exterior mirror housings, altered rear bumper and new 19-inch forged alloy wheels are the other attractions.

The exhaust system comes with flap concept. The electrically controlled flaps positioned just before the rear silencer, minimise exhaust backpressure for optimised efficiency and create a throaty growl across the entire rev range.
