According to police, Bimlesh had allegedly been assaulted and killed by an unidentified person in the town's Dafli locality and his body was later found near Bihiya railway station. Following the news of his death, agitated locals of his village, Damodarpur, started protesting on the streets.

They did not even let the local administration to take the teen's body for post-mortem and demanded that the suspect is arrested soon.

The protesters had suspected that Bimlesh must have been strangled by people living in the nearby red-light area. The Dafli locality houses sex workers in large numbers and Bimlesh had allegedly gone to meet the woman there before he died.
