Bangladesh and New Zealand take one final competitive step in their preparation for the ICC Champions Trophy when these two teams meet in Dublin in the final match of their tri-series on Wednesday.

New Zealand have already sealed the tri-series title by winning all three of their previous matches, and while this game is academic as far as this ODI series is concerned, it is still pretty important in the context of the Champions Trophy.

Getting as much game time and quality competitive action is key when going into a major tournament and all 22 of the players that take the field on Wednesday will be keen to get as much of a work out as possible.

New Zealand have looked pretty good in this tri-series, easing past Ireland in a couple of matches, while also dispatching Bangladesh in their earlier game.

In that match, the Kiwi bowlers restricted Bangladesh to 257 in the 50 overs, before the batsmen hauled the target down with four wickets and two-and-a-half overs to spare.

To add to their momentum going into the Champions Trophy, New Zealand had Corey Anderson, Adam Milne and Matt Henry all play a role in their win over Ireland in their last game, after the trio returned from IPL duty.

Bangladesh have had their IPL players – Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman, who hardly featured in IPL 2017 – back for a while, and with a full strength squad at their disposal, they will want to finish this tri-series off with a morale-boosting win.

Bowling first is expected to be the winning captain's choice, considering how the last game between the two teams went and also because there are plenty of runs expected at the Clontarf Cricket Club.

"It's a quirky sort of ground, a little bit Eden Park-like, quite short straight," Black Caps batting coach Craig McMillan said. "There's been a big wind blowing, so there'll be a couple of key hitting areas. There could well be some big scores and the bowlers could have a lot of hard work to do."
