The wait for the highly anticipated power cruiser the Dominar 400 from the house of Bajaj is getting over. The Dominar 400, the flagship motorcycle and the powerful bike of Bajaj, will go on sale in India on Thursday, December 15.

Bajaj Dominar 400, what the company calls "the big bike for the big boys," is looking to eat into the market share of the Chennai-based niche-bike maker Royal Enfield. The 400cc motorcycle is expected to get a price tag starting at Rs 1.6 lakh (ex-showroom).

The biking enthusiasts in India first lay their eyes on the Dominar 400, then known as the Pulsar CS400, at Auto Expo 2014 and it has never stayed away from the headlines since then. Although Bajaj took nearly three years to bring it to production, the hype has still not died down. The Dominar 400 has adapted many visible and invisible changes through its journey from its concept Pulsar CS400 to the production version. The most noticeable change would be the conventional telescopic front suspension, in lieu of the upside down front forks. The cruiser now gets twin instrument console — one on the handlebar as seen in other bikes and the other on the fuel tank and will come in dual-tone paint jobs.

At the heart of the Dominar 400 will be the refined 373cc liquid-cooled, 4-valve triple-spark, fuel-injected mill mated to a six-speed transmission. The engine is expected to pump in a power of 40bhp and 30Nm of peak torque. The Dominar is also rumoured to get a base variant with 34bhp of power. From what we understand, there will be two-variants of the Dominar 400 on offer.

Stay tuned as we bring to you all the latest updates from the launch floor of the all new Dominar 400.
