The footballing world will get the first glimpse of an Arsene Wenger-less Arsenal for the first time in 22 years when the Gunners face the reigning Europa League champions in Singapore.

Newly-appointed manager Unai Emery will be hoping to assess his team's strengths and weaknesses in what will be their first big match of the season. Arsenal is heading into the tie after having crushed fifth-tier English side Boreham Wood with a score of 8-0 earlier this month.

Arsenal, known for playing possession-based football, is likely to switch to a mix of possession and high-pressing tactics under Emery, according to star forward Alexandre Lacazette.

"I think [we will play] high pressure, as well as possession; we want to keep the ball. It can be good because if the pressing is good, we can win the ball higher (up the pitch), so maybe we can create more chances than last season," Lacazette told The New Paper.

Arsenal plays today's fixture as favourites, considering the absence of several big names in the opposition camp.

Atletico will be without big names, including the likes of new signing Thomas Lemar and other football stars like Antoine Griezmann, Diego Costa, Diego Godin, and Sime Vrsaljko as most of them seem to be on an extended break after the Fifa World Cup.

Nonetheless, Diego Simeone still has a lot of quality in his 22-man squad for the Singapore leg of the tournament. Having made some top-class signings already, Atletico will be hoping to challenge for the La Liga title and a good pre-season will only boost their confidence.
