The much-awaited Android 5.0 Lollipop OTA (Over-The-Air) update release is imminent for the Sony's flagship Xperia Z3 and Z2 this month.

Australian arm of the popular network carrier, Vodafone confirmed on Thursday that the Android 5.0 Lollipop software is awaited for testing on Sony Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z2, reported Xperia Blog.

The company is certain to officially roll out the new Google mobile OS update by February-end in Oceania region.

If history is taken any indication, mass roll-out of the OS update in other corners of the world will follow soon.

In the company's weekly software update news archive, Vodafone also stated that it has already begun conducting the test run of HTC One M8 on 5.0 Lollipop, but refrained from revealing any particular timeline of the release.

Google's new mobile OS comes with a completely fresh new design language – 'Material design'- bringing interactive user interface, lots of animation graphics, replacement of Dalvik with ART as its default runtime will bring improvement in performance and battery-life enhancements.

In a related development, American network carrier Sprint has begun rolling out Android 5.0 (build number: G900PVPU1AOA6) to Galaxy S5 (SM-G900P) model from Thursday. Besides usual feature of Lollipop, it is said to get enhanced VoWiFi UI and the bloatware Lumen tool bar has been removed. [More information HERE]
