HMD Global Oy had earlier in the week unveiled the much-awaited budget Android phone Nokia X5 in Beijing. Like it's bigger sibling — Nokia X6, it received an overwhelming response not just in China, but also among global fans.

The company's chief product officer, Juho Sarvikas, had shared the official promotional video clip of the Nokia X5 on Twitter. And now, several international Nokia fans have urged him to bring the device to their respective markets.

One among them, Sujaya Nimneth, earnestly asked Sarvikas to launch Nokia X5 in Sri Lanka and India, and to that, the former replied, "Yeah, I don't think we need to do a poll on this" confirming that HMD Global will be announcing the global launch details sooner than later.

It can be noted that HMD Global Oy had also launched the Nokia X6 global variant dubbed as Nokia 6.1 Plus in Hong Kong earlier in the week, and will soon bring it to Taiwan and other regions in coming weeks.

We believe that Nokia X5 will also be rebranded with different moniker most probably as — Nokia 5.1 Plus — outside the Chinese market.

For those unaware, the new Nokia X5 sports a 5.86-inch HD+ display with an Apple iPhone X-like notch on the top, which houses a front camera and a set of sensors. The screen is made of LCD and features 19:9 aspect ratio.

On the back, it boasts sturdy polycarbonate-based shell on it with an additional layer of the glass-like material top, to offer premium-like feel.

Under-the-hood, Nokia X5 houses MediaTek Helio P60 octa-core backed by 3GB/4GB RAM, 32GB/64GB storage (expandable up to 256GB), Android Oreo and a 3,080mAh battery, which is more than enough to last a full day under mixed usage.

As far as the camera is concerned, it boasts 13MP+5MP dual shooters with LED flash on the back and an 8MP snapper on the front. With two cameras, the device offers Portrait Mode, which allows users to adjust the clarity of the scene behind the subject. Users can change focus on the background to get the Bokeh blur effect.

Nokia X5 price details:

In China, Nokia X5 comes in two configurations—3GB RAM+32GB storage and 4GB RAM+64GB storage—for ¥999 (approx. $149/128/10,191) and ¥1399 (approx. $208/179/14,270), respectively. Both the models will be available in three colour options—Dark Black, Glacier White and Baltic Sea Blue.

We expect the Nokia X5 aka Nokia 5.1 Plus will be priced more or less the same in other markets including India.
