While the year 2015 ended on a grand note for Nivin Pauly with the release of the blockbuster romantic entertainer Premam, 2016 was no different for the young star. It was his movie Action Hero Biju that emerged as the first blockbuster of the year in Malayalam after hitting the theatres in February.

Action Hero Biju

Abrid Shine's second directorial venture Action Hero Biju saw Nivin performing the role of a police officer for the first time. The realistic cop movie, which narrated the day-to-day incidents that happen at a Janamaithri police station in Kerala, opened to fabulous response from the audience. The movie had an ensemble cast of newcomers who were all recognised for their short stint in it. Produced by Nivin, Abrid and Shibu Thekkumpuram under the banner of Pauly Jr Pictures, Action Hero Biju completed its successful theatrical run for over 100 days in Kerala and is believed to have earned a gross collection of approximately Rs. 16.65 crore from the state alone. Read review here

Jacobinte Swargarajyam

After Action Hero Biju, Nivin was seen in a totally different character in Vineeth Sreenivasan's directorial venture, Jacobinte Swargarajyam. The family entertainer also gained stupendous response from the audience all over the world. The movie, which was inspired from the real life story of an NRI family settled in the UAE, starred Renji Panicker, Lakshmy Ramakrishnan, Sreenath Bhasi, Aima Sebastian, Stacen and Ashwin Kumar in the lead roles. It has become the second movie of Nivin to have crossed 100 days of theatrical run in 2016. Read review here

Aanandam

The young star made a notable cameo appearance in Ganesh Raj's debut directorial venture Aanandam as the brother of Akshay Raj (Thomas Mathew). He made a notable appearance in the campus entertainer with the Rathivilaasam song sung by Vineeth Sreenivasan. The movie, starring seven newcomers in the lead roles, has also garnered positive response from the audience and is also set to become one of the biggest grossers in Malayalam. 

Upcoming projects

Nivin will be next seen in Premam-fame Althaf Salim's directorial venture Njandukalude Nattil Oridavela and Sidhartha Siva's Sakhavu. The actor, who also enjoys a huge fan following in Tamil Nadu with the release of Premam, has handful of Tamil projects in his kitty lined up for release in 2017 including Gautham Ramachandran's tentatively titled project, Santa Maria, Prabhu Radhakrishnan's directorial venture, to be produced by 24AM Studios and Atlee' Kumar's former associate director Suryaa Balakumaran's movie. He will also be paired opposite Tamil actress Trisha in her debut Malayalam movie, to be helmed by award winning director Shyamaprasad.

Kerala Blasters

Apart from acting, Nivin has also been selected as the youth ambassador of Indian Super League (ISL) football team Kerala Blasters, co-owned by legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar.
