Japanese carmaker Suzuki has revealed the 2019 version of its flagship SUV, Vitara, sold in the international market. Slated to go on sale in September, the new Vitara SUV features an array of cosmetic, technical, and feature updates.

The 2019 Suzuki Vitara comes with new design alloy wheels, a redesigned front grille with vertically aligned slats and tweaked tail lamps with LED touches. The basic silhouette of the SUV remains untouched while two new colour options have been added to lend some freshness.

Inside the cabin, the upper instrument panel now incorporates a soft touch material and the instrument cluster has a new design with colour central information display. The new Vitara also scores in terms of safety features that include Dual Sensor Brake Support, Lane Departure Warning and Prevention, Traffic Sign recognition, Blind Spot Monitor and Rear cross traffic alert.

Under the hood, Suzuki has replaced the 1.6-litre petrol engine with 1.0-litre and 1.4-litre Boosterjet turbocharged petrol engines. The SZ4 and SZ-T grades are equipped with the 1.0-litre 109.5bhp Boosterjet engine with Allgrip four-wheel drive while SZ5 models are equipped with the 1.4-litre Boosterjet engine which offers a power output of 138bhp and 220Nm of torque is available from just 1,500rpm through to 4,000rpm.

Vitara is sold in 191 countries and regions around the world and cumulative sales recently passed 3.7 million units. Maruti Suzuki sold the third generation of the SUV as Grand Vitara in India until 2015.

The current generation of the SUV, which debuted in 2015, is not available in India while the pre-facelift version has been spotted a couple of time this year on test in India.

Rumours are rife that Maruti Suzuki will bring Vitara in India as a rival to Hyundai Creta and Mahindra XUV500. In that case, the new facelifted version is expected to be launched in 2019.
