After crime thriller Oppam, Mohanlal's latest movie Pulimurugan is all set to become the superstar's highest grosser in Malayalam. The Vysakh directorial, which has been garnering fabulous response from the movie-goers, is said to have entered the Rs 20 crore club within five days of its theatrical release in Kerala.
Apart from breaking the record of Oppam, which had earned Rs 20 crore in 11 days, Pulimurugan has also crossed the lifetime gross collection of a few other language movies as well. The Mohanlal-starrer has emerged as the highest opening day grosser in Malayalam with an approximate collection of Rs 4.08 crore, which is Rs 1.65 crore more than Mammootty's Kasaba that made a business of Rs 2.43 crore on its first day at Kerala box office.
The long Puja holidays helped Pulimurugan to witness a tremendous business on the first week itself. It has also turned out to be a big hit at the multiplexes in Kochi with total earnings of Rs 72.95 lakh within five days. The fifth day collection of the movie, produced by Tomichan Mulakupaadam, amounts to Rs 15.15 lakh with a theatre occupancy of 99.58 percent.
According to trade analysts, the three-day gross collection of Mohanlal's action thriller is Rs 12.91 crore and it has become the third blockbuster of the superstar in a month after the Telugu action thriller Janatha Garage and Priyadarshan's directorial venture Oppam.
The worldwide gross collection of the crime thriller Oppam is said to be Rs 45 crore with an earning of Rs 34.72 crore from Kerala alone within 31 days of its theatrical run. Meanwhile, the Koratala Siva directorial entered the prestigious Rs 100 crore club within eight days from the worldwide box office becoming the second fastest movie to achieve the feat after Baahubali: The Beginning.
