Rajinikanth's "Kabali" has set the U.S. box office on fire. The multilingual movie has achieved a record-breaking collection in the country but it has failed to surpass the opening weekend business record of SS Rajamouli's "Bahubali" aka "Baahubali," which remains the biggest first weekend grosser in the U.S.

"Kabali" has been featured in the top 10 weekend grosser list in the U.S. last weekend as the movie earned $4,100,000 (Rs. 27.56 crore) in the first weekend from the two versions. SS Rajamouli's "Bahubali" had minted $4,293,503 (Rs. 28.86 crore) from the Tamil and Telugu versions.

However, the Rajinikanth starrer has overtaken the collections of Bollywood biggies like Aamir Khan's "PK" ($3,088,584 - Rs. 20.77 crore), Salman Khan's "Sultan," ($27,22,731 - Rs. 18.31 crore) and Shah Rukh Khan's "Happy New Year" ($2,722,731 - Rs. 11.50 crore).

"Kabali" was overwhelmingly welcomed by the U.S. audience with the premiere show doing a record $1,925,379 (Rs. 12.93 crore). The advance booking had met with stupendous response and the industry had expected the movie to do record -breaking business.

In fact, "Kabali" has broken the "Bahubali" U.S. premiere record of $1,382,076. The Rajinikanth-starrer was released in 450 screens.

On the other hand, "Kabali" has done exceptionally well in Malaysia, France and a few other overseas centres. The early estimation coming from the industry suggests the multilingual movie to have collected about Rs. 87 crore at the overseas centres in three days. 

In the domestic market, the estimates claim that Rajinikanth's film has minted Rs. 123 crore to take its worldwide first weekend total to Rs. 210 crore. However, the makers are yet to reveal the official numbers.
