Johny Antony's family comedy entertainer Thoppil Joppan, released on October 7, has opened to positive response from audience. The movie was pitted against Mohanlal's Pulimurugan, which has been making earth-shattering business compared to Thoppil Joppan.
Since the release of the two superstar movies, there have been confusions regarding the box office collection report of the movies. Many had even claimed that the figures posted on the Facebook page of the director were bogus. Now, the filmmaker has come forward clarifying on the business the Mammootty-starrer made in Kerala.
"I recently noticed the discussions on Facebook and online portals on the box office collection reports of Thoppil Joppan. Let me say that though this Facebook page was launched with my permission, I was not in touch with the admins of the page as I lost their number [translated from Malayalam]," Johny Antony wrote on Facebook.
"The collection reports seen on this page were posted with the permission of the movie's producer and distributor. The content posted through this account are not fake. When I enquired the crew members of the movie regarding the page, I understood that the admins had handled it well. Therefore, I announce it as my official page, in which the details on my upcoming movies will be shared."
"All necessary steps to get it verified will be done as soon as possible. Lastly, let me thank all the movie lovers for accepting Thoppil Joppan," the filmmaker added.
According to the post on the Facebook page of Johny, Thoppil Joppan has earned a gross collection of Rs 8.43 crore with a net collection of Rs 6.71 crore and distributer's share of Rs 4.02 crore within four days of its release in the state.
