Search engine giant, Google has finally ended the sale of the company's most popular flagship smartphone, LG Nexus 5.
The company, in a bid give priority to the latest marquee device- Motorola Nexus 6, has taken Nexus 5 off the shelf from its official Google Store. "While some inventory of Nexus 5 still exists (with our retail and carrier partners), our focus is on Nexus 6 at this time," technology media house The Verge quoted Google spokesperson as saying.
Even the India edition of Google Store shows this caption – "The Nexus 5 is no longer available for purchase". We contacted Google's official experience store AndroidLand (Bengaluru branch) and got the confirmation that Nexus 5 is officially discontinued in India.
AndroidLand is a joint venture between Google and Spice Mobility that runs stores in Bengaluru (Karnataka) and Noida (NCR).
The good news is that some retailers (online) have some stock in their inventories. Prospective buyers still can get their hands on the LG Nexus 5 (16GB) at select online stores like Flipkart, Snapdeal, Saholic and others for under ₹25,000 bucks. The 32GB model is priced around ₹29,200.
To recap, Google Nexus 5 sports a 4.95-inch full HD display and houses 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 series SoC (System on Chip) with 450 MHz Adreno 330, backed by 2GB RAM, 16GB/32GB inbuilt memory and a 2300 mAh battery which can run the phone for close to 300 hours under standby mode.
On photography front, it ships with 8.0-megapixel camera with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) on the rear and a 1.3-megapixel snapper on the front.
