Velocity 2X
Velocity 2X will be ported to Xbox One and PCvelocitygame.co.uk

If you have enjoyed playing the previously released PS4-Vita mashup Velocity 2X and wished for it to be on other platforms, you might just be in luck. According to reports, acclaimed hybrid-platformer Velocity 2X is coming to Xbox One, PC, Mac and Linux via publisher Sierra.

Developer Futurlab recently confirmed that while it will be handling the port's development, Sierra will just be responsible for handling the business side of publishing. Futurlab considers it a win-win situation.

"Self publishing is HARD," said Futurlab's James Marsden in a blog post. "I spent more time doing PR and marketing on Velocity 2X than I spent designing levels. I became a bottleneck for the whole project. That was far from ideal."

"Thanks to blogging it's now common knowledge that marketing is just as important as making a great-innovative-artistically-stunning-multiple-award-winning-GOTY (some people might say more important). So, given that marketing is vital to success, who could be better suited to hold aloft our creations than Sierra? The best bit is that we retain control of our IP," he added.

Prior to this, Activision had confirmed the return of Sierra Games back at Gamescom 2014. It was later announced that Sierra would be publishing Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions, an impressive looking game. Besides, a reboot of the classic point-and-click series, King's Quest, was also announced.

In case you aren't aware of it, Velocity 2X is a sci-fi platformer and shoot 'em-up in one adventure. This critically acclaimed sequel to Velocity Ultra intertwines together two classic game formats into one seamless adventure, featuring puzzle-platforming action alongside award-winning top-down shoot 'em-up gameplay.

Velocity 2X features a range of exotic and futuristic locations, all hand drawn in FuturLab's well-known house art style. Players will be able to infiltrate space stations, moon bases and alien planets to disrupt the crushing tyranny imposed by the evil Vokh Empire.

Velocity 2X takes the same approach to great gameplay design that made Velocity Ultra so popular, but is a huge step up from Ultra.

"We threw out the old code and started again from scratch targeting next generation hardware. We hired AAA engine and visual effects programmers to bring a highly polished modern feel to a classic genre, and we've pushed our house art style to the next level," says the official page
