The 45th President of the United States of America, at the meeting with the EU leaders in Brussels on Thursday, complained bitterly against Germany, reports German news magazine Der Spiegel. Trump reportedly said, "The Germans are bad, very bad," the publication has quoted participants in the meeting. Trump went on saying, "See the millions of cars they sell in the U.S., terrible. We will stop this."

The comments were said to have been made in a conference with the European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and the European Council President Donald Tusk, who both showed support for Germany, reports CNBC.

The comment sparked some tension between Trump and his EU counterparts. Following criticism, White House Chief Economic Adviser Gary Cohn stepped in to clarify the comment. "He said they're very bad on trade but he doesn't have a problem with Germany," Cohn said. "He said his dad is from Germany. He said "I don't have a problem with Germany, I have a problem with German trade.'" Cohn added.

This is not the first time Trump going vocal against carmakers. In January the 70-year-old came down heavily on carmakers for manufacturing cars in Mexico and selling them in the US. He even suggested aTrump is now the US President and policy for automakers -- Make in USA or pay 35 percent border tax.

"If you want to build cars in the world, then I wish you all the best. You can build cars for the United States, but for every car that comes to the USA, you will pay 35 percent tax." Trump said in January.

It needs to be noted that BMW, Mercedes and Volkswagen all have substantial manufacturing bases in the US. BMW alone makes all of its SUVs in South Carolina. Do you think the comments of Trump will make ripples in the US auto industry?
