Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer Yamaha is all set to launch the new YZF-R15 supersport bike in India. The launch of the R15's new version is expected to be named YZF-R15 Version 3.0 and the model has been spied recently sans camouflage.

The motorcycle in its latest avatar is expected to be priced at Rs 1.2 lakh, ex-showroom Hyderabad. A Yamaha dealer from Hyderabad has listed the bike on their official site and it has also updated the price, report Rushlane. The Yamaha YZF-R15 Version 2.0 is currently priced at Rs 1.18 lakh in Telangana. If the leaked pricing is anything to go by, increase in the price of the new R15 is nominal.

The biggest talk point in the new YZF-R15 is the all-new 155.1cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled four-stroke SOHC engine with fuel injection in place of the 149cc mill. The new mill develops 19.7bhp of power 10,000rpm and the peak torque is 14.7Nm at 8,500rpm. The power of the YZF-R15 version 3.0 has gone up by 3bhp from the outgoing model. The engine comes mated to a six-speed transmission and is now equipped with a slipper clutch for clutch-free up-shifts.

Yamaha had launched the third generation of the YZF-R15 motorcycle in Indonesia in January 2017. However, test mules spotted in India has omitted some features to keep the price in check. India-spec R15 will be equipped with conventional front forks in place of the premium upside-down (USD) front forks seen in the Indonesia-spec. In addition, the bike spotted in India is fitted with MRF tyres and not the IRC ones were seen on the Indonesian-spec bike. Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) will be another major omission in India-spec model.

The new YZF-R15 will feature an aggressive design in line with the bigger R Series bikes. The new headlamps cluster incorporates split full-LED headlights separated by an air intake. The new YZF-R15's fairing and the fuel tank are more edgy, giving the bike an improved athletic stance.

Though the company has not officially started bookings for the new bike, selected dealers have already started accepting bookings. The launch of the motorcycle is expected in January 2018 or during the Auto Expo 2018 in early February.
