Xiaomi has a wide range of smartphones targeting rivals in different categories and price range. To take on premium smartphones such as OnePlus 6, Asus Zenfone 5Z, Huawei Nova 3 and others, Xiaomi is looking to launch a new smartphone dubbed Pocophone F1.

Xiaomi Pocophone has been fuelling he rumour mill for a while now by receiving NCC and FCC certifications and European community trademark registration for the brand in May. The first of possibly many Pocophone smartphones is going to be the Pocophone F1, which will bag top-of-the-line features at a competitive price.

Xiaomi doesn't always launch its phones in India first, but the Pocophone F1 could be exceptional. According to MySmartPrice, Xiaomi's Pocophone F1 is likely to be launched in India alongside other global markets with its eyes set on flagship killers OnePlus 6, Asus Zenfone 5Z and Huawei Nova 3.

The exact launch date of Pocophone F1 in India is still a mystery, but media reports have suggested the handset's price to start at €420, roughly Rs 33,600, for the base model and €460, about Rs 36,800, for the high-end variant. This is a price point where consumers are presented with a multitude of options, but let's take a look at how Xiaomi Pocophone F1 aims to disrupt the competition.

According to the rumours, the Pocophone F1 is likely to have a 5.99-inch Full HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 19:9, suggesting the presence of a notch. The unannounced smartphone is expected to run octa-core Snapdragon 845 chipset, Adreno 630 GPU, 6GB RAM, Android 8.1 Oreo-based MIUI 9, and feature 64GB and 128GB expandable storage options.

In terms of optics, the Pocophone F1 is like to have a dual camera setup at the back, combining two sensors of unknown specifications in a vertical alignment. The handset is also expected to have a large 4,000mAh battery with fast charging support, along with other features such as 4G VoLTE and dual SIM card support.

It is interesting to see how brands are now focusing on the premium price segment and bringing disruption by packing top-of-the-line specifications. This attempt by new brands hurts giants like Samsung and Apple, which have flagship smartphones at a much higher price point.

It remains to be seen how well Xiaomi's Pocophone F1 is received by fans in India and around the world. Let us know what you think of it in the comments section below.
