The mystery of "i is coming" is finally resolved. Xiaomi unveiled its latest flagship smartphone in India on Thursday in front of hundreds of Mi fans and reporters gathered at the Siri Fort auditorium in New Delhi.
We did a live coverage of the event, where company's big heads like CEO & Founder, Lei Jun, President & Co-Founder, Bin Lin, and VP Xiaomi Global, Hugo Barra and Xiaomi India Head Manu Jain were present. At the event, Xiaomi unveiled all-new Mi 4i smartphone along with its Mi Band.
Xiaomi impressed the attendees with the Mi 4i specs and smart price. According to the company, the name of the handset is short for Mi 4 for India. It is powered by a 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor with Cortex-A53 cores clocking speeds at 1.7 GHz and the other four at 1.1 GHz. The processor is coupled with 2GB RAM and 16GB onboard storage.
Xiaomi tailored the Mi 4i as per company's signature looks single poly-carbonate unibody. There's a 5-inch Full HD OGS IPS display with a density of 441ppi. Xiaomi also has new adaptive brightness technology, called Sunlight display, to improve readability outdoors.
On the camera side of things, the Mi 4i sports a 13mp rear-facing F/2.0 camera with dual-tone LED flash and a 5mp front shooter. The handset packs a 3,120mAh battery and runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop with MIUI 6 on top of it. Xiaomi also introduced a new feature in its Mi 4i, IVR (Interactive Voice Recognition) for service line calls.
Above all, Xiaomi has taken the challenge to price its smartphone effectively. The Mi 4i starts at ₹12,999. It will be available on 30 April and registrations for the handset begin at 8pm on Thursday.
