Kapil Sharma is all set to receive the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award for the second time. The ace comedian will be receiving the award at a suburban auditorium in Mumbai on Thursday (June 2).
He is one of the rarest Indians to be honoured with the prestigious award more than once. In 2014, Kapil was awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award but unfortunately, he reached the venue very late and had to collect the trophy from stage co-ordinators. He apparently reached so late that the dignitaries and the audiences had already left by then.
We hope Kapil had learnt his lesson from the 2014 incident and this time reaches the venue well on time.
Besides Kapil, Priyanka Chopra, Juhi Chawla, music-director duo Anand-Milind, Dangal director Nitesh Tiwari will also be honoured with the award this year.
In other news, Kapil's infamous mid-air fight with Sunil Grover followed by the exit of Grover and other team members of The Kapil Sharma Show has severely affected the episodes' ratings. As per the recent TRP chart report, Kapil's show has taken a nose dive and is no longer in the top 10 highest rating shows.
Sony TV, in which the comedy show airs, had given Kapil a month's time to revive the show and its TRPs. There were also reports that the new season of Salman Khan's Dus Ka Dum would be replacing The Kapil Sharma Show.
