Major smartphone maker HTC has announced that several of its popular devices like HTC One M9, One M8, One E9 and others will receive Google's new firmware, Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA (over-the-air) update, in a couple of months' time.

Google rolled out Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA update to its Nexus and Android One devices after launching it (out of the box) along with the LG Nexus 5X and Huawei Nexus 6P.

The new software will come to dozens of Android devices from Samsung, LG, Sony and other smartphone makers in the next few months, but HTC is the only one so far to reveal the tentative date for its arrival.

The Taiwanese company has confirmed on its Twitter page that it will start rolling out Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA update to its devices before the end of the year, which means eligible devices will get it in December.

It may be mentioned that HTC was one of the firsts to roll out Android 5.0 Lollipop update to its devices. So, it is quite possible for HTC devices to get the latest firmware early this time too.

HTC devices that are eligible to get Android 6.0 Marshmallow are HTC One M9, HTC One M8, HTC One M9+, HTC One E9, HTC One E9+, HTC One ME, HTC One E8, HTC One M8 EYE, HTC Butterfly 3, HTC Desire 826, HTC Desire 820, and HTC Desire 816.

Meanwhile, Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA update is being currently rolled out to Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 7 (2013), Nexus 9, Nexus Player and Android One smartphones. Most android devices may get the software update early next year or even in the second quarter if past trend is anything to go by.
