Popular TV actress Deepika Singh, who plays the role of Sandhya in Star Plus' "Diya Aur Baati Hum", has a huge fan base.

Recently, Deepika and the entire cast of the show visited Pushkar in Rajasthan for an event where a lane in Pushkar was renamed to Hanuman galli.

It should be mentioned that in "Diya Aur Baati Hum" Sandhya and her family live in Hanuman galli in Pushkar. While their residence address is a scripted one, the show's popularity inspired the Government of Rajasthan to rename a lane in Pushkar as Hanuman galli.

While Deepika was overwhelmed with the love she received during her recent trip, recalling her first trip to the town made her nostalgic.

In an interview with Telly Chakkar, Deepika revealed that there was a time in her career when she was struggling actress and nobody recognised her in Pushkar.

"There was a day when I had to run through all the streets in Pushkar for the opening scene of the show. Nobody did recognize me then. But now, as I stood at the same place, the whole crowd present over there was cheering for me and their reactions made me feel so special," said Deepika.

"Diya Aur Baati Hum is very special to me, as I have lived the life of Sandhya and enjoyed the journey of Sandhya from being a typical girl from a village to becoming an IPS officer. But with life moving at such a hectic phase, we hardly get a chance to sit back and enjoy the good things that have happened in our lives. I am really glad that this Pushkar trip happened to me. It gave me a chance to remember, recollect and relive the past and appreciate the present. I am indeed thankful to all my fans for all the support that I have received so far," the actress told the web portal.
