Protesters demand safety for women on gang rape anniversary

A 14-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and gangraped in West Bengal's South 24 Paragnas district on 27 and 29 January by three men who also threatened her against going to the police.

The girl was returning home from coaching classes on 27 January in Sonapur area of the district when the three men allegedly abducted her, took her to a deserted house and raped her. She was blackmailed two days later and taken to the same spot where she was again raped by the three accused.

The accused also filmed the incident and threatened to post it online if the victim complained to the police.

The victim stopped going to school and coaching classes after 29 January and told her mother about the incident, who then reported it to the police.

The police have arrested two of the three accused, while the third is absconding, reports The Indian Express.
