Incoming Hungarian health minister Zsolt Hegedus went viral on social media after performing an energetic dance on the steps of Parliament following the inauguration of Peter Magyar as Hungary's prime minister.
Videos widely shared online showed Hegedus dancing before tens of thousands of supporters gathered along the Danube River, where crowds watched the ceremony on giant screens. Magyar was also seen applauding alongside fellow lawmakers as celebrations continued.
Magyar, 45, was sworn in as Hungary's prime minister, formally ending Viktor Orban's 16-year tenure in power. Magyar's Tisza Party secured a landslide victory in the April 12 parliamentary election, winning 141 of 199 seats.
"Hungary's new government after inauguration. It's never been so nice to be Hungarian," Magyar posted on X, formerly Twitter, while sharing a video from the celebrations. After taking oath, he said, "I will not rule over Hungary; I will serve my country."
In his address, Magyar pledged to begin "a new chapter in Hungary's history" and promised reforms aimed at transforming the country's political system.

While the speech focused on governance and reform, Hegedus drew significant attention online for his celebratory dance performance. The orthopaedic surgeon had earlier gone viral after dancing at the Tisza Party's election victory rally in April.
His latest performance in Budapest's Kossuth Square, where supporters waved Hungarian and European Union flags, further cemented his image on social media as Hungary's "dancing politician."
