Well, even Ellen DeGeneres does forget things sometimes. But it creates absolute awkwardness if it happens on her talk show in front of live audience.

So, let me cut to the chase. The Dark Horse singer appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Tuesday, May 16, to promote her new album. And, to make the show more interesting, Ellen renamed her "Who Would You Rather?" segment to "Will You Perry Me?" This is nothing but a game sort of thing where Perry was shown a sequence of male celebrities and she had to pick which she preferred in each round.

Before the game started, Perry jokingly asked Ellen, "Do I have to get married... again?" DeGeneres then replied, "You were not married!" However, Perry then reminded Ellen that she was once married to Russell Brand when she was 25. Brand and Perry were married for over a year — from October 2010 to December 2011.

Here is the transcript of their conversation:

Katy Perry: "Do I have to get married... again?!"

Ellen: "You were not married."

KP: "I was. I was 25."

Ellen: "Were you?"

KP: "Yeah, it's been a long time, honey. No wrinkles, no lines."

Ellen: "To who?!"

KP: "His name was Russell Brand."

Ellen: "Oh that's right, I forgot about Russell."

KP: "Remember, you gave me some wedding gifts on this show?"

Ellen: "Yes I do."

KP: "Cool cool cool cool cool."

Ellen: "That'll be cut out."
