As "Girl Meets World" season 2 inches closer to the finale, we are getting more and more aware of how much we will miss it during the break. And it looks like there will be more than one very particular reason to await "GMW" season 3.

In the last few episodes, we have seen a shift in the romantic coupling in "Girl Meets World" from Lucas (Peyton Meyer) and Riley (Rowan Blanchard) to Lucas and Maya (Sabrina Carpenter). Although the show mostly focuses on friendship, acceptance and human values, there is always an underlying current of romance that fans like to focus on.

Although the show began with the possibility of "Rucas", it was revealed in episode 12 "Girl Meets Yearbook" that Riley and Lucas are more like brother and sister than anything else. In the recent episodes, we have been seeing Maya and Lucas growing closer to each other, despite their banter and teasing.

But despite our deepest desire to see either "Lucaya" or "Rucas" a reality, that might not happen in the current season. As Michael Jacobs, the creator of "Girl Meets World" explained to Ksite TV in a recent interview, this current season is all about personal growth.

"Our first year was about friendship. Thematically, we were completely about friendship. Our second year was about growth. Well, if there is a third season — I'd like to believe there's going to be — I think it's going to be about feelings..." He also added that "GMW" will deal with feelings in a fresh way, and that it is going to be a "magnificent exploration". So, we have that to look forward to in season 3, but we still have episodes of season 2 left.
