Plot Synopsis:

As Hotch is tasked with interviewing several candidates to fill Kate's position, the BAU searches for a killer who marks his victims' faces in a disturbing way, and who seems to be intent on some sort of revenge. Assisting the team is a promising potential new member, who is a forensic psychologist with a passion for studying the humanity behind psychopathy.

Going by what the showrunners, synopsis and the CBS promo have revealed so far, we know that "Criminal Minds" season 11 pilot episode will have:

1) BAU team solve a twisted case: The promo shows Hotch and team working on a very bizarre case that involves them dealing with an UnSub, who overwhelms his victim silently, paints their faces and then injects them. They are helped by the newly-appointed forensic psychologist Dr Tara Lewis to crack the case. Even CBS had hinted earlier that the BAU team will chase a serial killer who has left evidence behind, suggesting that it is someone determined to take revenge.

2) There's a mole in BAU: In the trailer clip, Hotch is also clearly heard saying that someone tipped off the killer and there is a mole in the BAU team. Now, who could that be? Well, we know the team very well to be suspecting anyone, so could it be the new team member?

3) Dr Spencer Reid will have a disturbing start: Showrunner Erica Messer had already confirmed that the season will delve into characters' personal lives, especially Dr Reid and his love life. The buzz is already doing the rounds that his new forensic team partner Dr Tara Lewis (Aisha Tyler) will play his love interestin this season. She also confirmed that fans favourite Dr Reid will have a very disturbing and dramatic start in the premiere. "He gets to do a takedown Reid style, which is just using his brain with a physical thing that's really disturbing — you have to turn away. It's not a standoff with a gun, it's a Reid version of a takedown," Erica said.

4) JJ's cameo with her new baby: We know that AJ Cook's character JJ will be on maternity leave for the first few episodes, but fans can look forward to her cameo with her new baby in the season premiere. "You'll get to meet AJ's real little baby, Phoenix. Like what she did with Mekhai (playing JJ's first son Henry), she's having her actual child play JJ's child. His name is Michael," executive producer Erica Messer told.

"Criminal Minds" season 11 premieres with "The Job" on CBS on 30 September, at 9 pm.
