MTV will air season 5 episode 3 of "Awkward" titled "Jenna in Wonderland". As the name suggests, it will show our favourite senior cruising through high school life for the first time, but the same cannot be said of her sweetheart, Matty.
In the previous episode "Short Circuit Party", we saw how Jenna's (Ashley Rickards) little accident causes a blackout situation in school, which in turn, leads to the classes getting cancelled. Jenna became their hero, and even called for a party for all the seniors, where Matty (Beau Mirchoff) and Jake (Brett Davern) are forced to hang out in the same place.

Guilt is eating Jake up, and goes over to an inebriated Matty, who insults his best friend in front of their friends. Realising that it was not the right time to confront Matty, a disheartened Jake leaves and talks to Gaby (Erinn Westbrook).
Gaby on the other hand, is upset, having overheard Jake say that sex with her was "meaningless". Jake assures her that he only said so as to make himself believe it were true, and that he felt a connection with her. It seemed like the couple might start dating in the coming episode. However, if they do that, it would be a terrible blow to Matty, especially now, when he is being outcast by the whole school.
In "Jenna in Wonderland", Matty seems to notice a weird trend where everyone is treating him like a nobody. He becomes unpopular, almost socially invisible, and Jenna - who knows what that is like - will help him get through it; even if she is on the other side now.
