A year after that tempestuous match, Roger Federer and Stanislas Wawrinka meet again in the semifinals of the ATP World Tour Finals in London.

Last year, Federer and Wawrinka played each other in the same stage of the tournament, and even if the former won the match, it was not after a big controversy, which involved Federer's wife Mirka as well.

The two Swiss players would soon make up, but the issue did threaten to derail Switzerland's Davis Cup campaign last year, even if that is not at stake this time around.

This year, it will be about winning and getting to a final; hopefully without any controversy and plenty of smooth tennis, tennis both these players are capable of playing.

Federer eased into the semifinals with three wins in three matches in the group stages, while Wawrinka had to beat Andy Murray in a do-or-die battle on Friday to book his place.

With Federer having an extra day's rest and looking in better form as well, the 17-time Grand Slam champion will be the fancied one in this match, but Wawrinka, as we all know, has the skills to beat any player in the world.

"It's an amazing tournament to play," Wawrinka said after defeating Murray 7-6 (7-4), 6-4. "It's a big chance to be in the top eight at the end of the year. I always try to enjoy it. I always try to give everything.

"The conditions are normally quite good for me. But you also play only the top eight guys. If you look at the last two years, almost two and a half, I started to beat a lot of the top guys. I started to be really confident against them, that I have the game to beat them."
