Afghanistan will take on Scotland in the first ODI of the two-match series at the Grange Cricket Club in Edinburgh on Monday. The two teams will renew their rivalry in the 50-over format of the game, after they last played an ODI against each other in Dunedin, back in the ICC World Cup 2015 in Australia.

The selectors have retained 14 out of the 16 players that were a part of the Afghanistan squad during the ICC World T20 2016 earlier this year. They have travelled to Scotland with almost a full-strength squad. It is understandable that Afghanistan will be taking no half measures when they will take on Scotland in the first ODI in Edinburgh on Monday.

Mohammad Shahzad, Asghar Stanikzai, Mohammad Nabi and Noor Ali Zadran are expected to shine with the bat, while Hamid Hassan, Dawlat Zadran, Mohammad Nabi, Rashid Khan and Shapoor Zadran will be handling the bowling depatment of Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, Scotland will be missing the likes of Matt Machan and Josh Davey. Both Machan and Davey are busy playing county cricket in England. In their absence, skipper Preston Mommsen, Alasdair Evans, Kyle Coetzer, Richie Berrington and Matthew Cross will be key players for the hosts against Afghanistan in this ODI series.

Scotland: Preston Mommsen (C), Kyle Coetzer, Alasdair Evans, Brad Wheal, Calum MacLeod, Con de Lange, Craig Wallace, Mark Watt, Matthew Cross (wk), Michael Leask, Richie Berrington, Safyaan Sharif, Ruaidhri Smith.

Afghanistan:
Mohammad Shahzad (wk), Noor Ali Zadran, Javed Ahmadi, Asghar Stanikzai (C), Rahmat Shah, Mohammad Nabi, Samiullah Shinwari, Najibullah Zadran, Rashid Khan, Mirwais Ashraf, Gulbadin Naib, Dawlat Zadran, Hamid Hassan, Shapoor Zadran, Amir Hamza Hotak, Yamin Ahmadzai.
