Speculations were rife about India captain Virat Kohli tying the knot with his long-time girlfriend and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma ever since the two took breaks from their respective commitments and left the country last week.

After keeping the media and fans guessing for nearly a week, the two celebrated stars confirmed they entered the wedlock on Monday, December 11.

Kohli and Anushka, who were dating since 2013, made it official on Twitter and they did it in style by sharing the same message along with a photo from what seems to be a colourful ceremony.

"Today we have promised each other to be bound in love forever. We are truly blessed to share the news with you," Virat and Anushka posted.

"This beautiful day will be made more special with the love and support of our family of fans and well-wishers. Thank you for being such an important part of our journey," the statement read.

Kohli and Anushka tied the knot at a Borgo Finocchieto resort near Tuscany, South Italy and the ceremony was reportedly was an "intimate affair" for which only close friends and family were invited.

Notably, the power couple had asked the wedding to be a private affair, according to the Times of India.

However, the date for the wedding was decided as early as in August when the two were in Sri Lanka. Even the wedding planners reportedly kept the details hidden from their team, according to the IANS.

Wishes started pouring in for the newlyweds on Monday evening. The likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Sania Mirza and cricket stars from across the border took to Twitter to bless the celebrity couple.
