Producer Dil Raju, the proprietor of Sri Venkateswara Creations (SVC), has officially announced that he has acquired the theatrical rights of the Telugu version of Vijay's Tamil film "Theri." 

Speculations about Dil Raju bagging the distribution rights of Vijay's "Theri" started doing the rounds after he was spotted at the audio launch of the movie in Chennai March 20. It was rumoured that several leading distributors were in the race to bag the rights of its Telugu version, but Dil Raju, who apparently quoted a record price, had the last laugh. 

Riaz K Ahmed, who is a PRO for many leading Tamil actors, confirmed that Dil Raju would make a formal announcement about the Telugu version of "Theri Saturday. He tweeted, "Title and logo of #TheriTelugu will be officially announced next week via @SVC_official. Stay tuned for more updates. #Theri #Vijay. [sic]" 

The boss of SVC took its official Twitter page to share the news with film goers Sunday afternoon. He tweeted, "Happy to announce our association with @theVcreations to release @actorvijay's #Theri in Telugu. An @Atlee_dir film. Title and first look posters of the film will be unveiled very soon. #TheriInTelugu

Ilayathalapathy Vijay is one of the most popular Tamil actors in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. His recent releases were dubbed in Telugu and they turned out be big successes at the box office. Dil Raju has planned to cash in on his popularity in a big way and is now busy making arrangement for its massive release.

"Theri" is scheduled for a worldwide Release April 14, 2016, and its Telugu version is also expected to hit the screens in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana the same day. VamsiKaka, Publicist for SVC, tweeted, "#Theri Telugu version will be having a gud release across AP & TG states. Biggest 4 Ilayathalapathy Vijay in Telugu."

"Theri" is an action film, which features Vijay in three different avatars. Atlee has written and directed the movie, which has been produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu. Samantha and Amy Jackson are playing the female leads in the film, while Prabhu, Raadhika Sarathkumar, Mahendran and Santhanam appear in important supporting cast.
