Italian two-wheeler manufacturer Piaggio is all set to launch yet another Vespa scooter model in India christened the 946 Emporio Armani. This new model is in addition to the six variants on offer. The 946 Emporio Armani was supposed to enter market on October 25, but the company postponed the launch to November to unknown reasons. So, what makes the 946 Emporio Armani edition special?

The Vespa 946 Emporio Armani is the offspring of Vespa and Italian fashion brand, Giorgio Armani. The special edition marks the 40th anniversary of the foundation of Giorgio Armani as well as the 130th birthday of the Piaggio Group. Hence, the 946 Emporio Armani illustrates the Italian design prowess.

The 946 combines the retro styling with a contemporary twist. Vespa 946 Emporio Armani sports an exclusive colour scheme of a dark shade of matte gray with a touch of green only visible under certain light conditions.

In addition, the model flaunts grey wheels, dark brown leather wrapped seats, and chrome finished rack at the rear for holding a bag. The Emporio Armani logo has been added at the rear, sides, and above the headlamp. It gets LED headlamps and tail lamps with LCD instrument panel.

The Vespa 946 Emporio Armani is based on the standard Vespa 946 scooter and that means it is powered by the same 125cc, single cylinder petrol engine. The mill develops 11.7hp at 8,250rpm and a peak torque of 10.3Nm torque at 7000rpm. The scooter reportedly comes with a top speed of 93kmph.

On safety, the version is loaded with ABS, traction control system, ASR (Anti-Slip Regulator). The Emporio Armani edition will get Michelin tyres with 220mm disc brake for both wheels.

The special edition model will be sold as a CBU (Completely Built-up Unit). The Vespa 946 Emporio Armani edition will be the most expensive scooter to come to India at an expected price around Rs 8 lakh. At that price point, the model is a collector's item and it has been limited to just 100 units globally.
