Episode 14 of "The Vampire Diaries" will be Jeremy's last one in Mystic Falls, as he is all set to embark on a new journey far away from the supernatural beings that have since become his family.
Although Elena, too, wants her little brother to move on in life, it is going to be tough for her, especially since he is her only living relative. The upcoming episode will see the siblings reminiscing about their past and Elena putting on a brave face as Jeremy gets set to go to art school.
Sheriff Forbes, who is battling cancer, is planning to live out her final days in her family's cabin, and while packing up her office, she comes across the file on the deaths of Elena and Jeremy's parents. As per the official synopsis, Sheriff Forbes will turn to Damon to help out with the case, and chances are viewers will finally come to know how exactly they died.
What viewers know of the accident is that her parents were bringing back Elena from a party when their car goes off the side of the road and into the lake. Stefan, who hears the accident, goes to help saves Elena, but does not get her parents out on time.
Although executive producer Julie Plec has previously said that the accident was just that and no supernatural force caused it, there are several fan theories that put the blame on the supernatural beings in Mystic Falls.
One fan theory on Reddit has it that Damon caused the accident because "(1) the writers need to find a novel way to introduce conflict into Damon and Elena's relationship (2) what the show has NOT already revealed and (3) lets face it Greyson is definitely alive."
Another writes: "My theory is that a vampire, I don't know who, was in front of Elena's parents' car and caused them to crash into the lake."
Elsewhere in the episode, fans will see Jeremy contemplating his decision to leave Mystic Falls following a violent confrontation with Enzo , and "Matt finds his own life on the line after Enzo lures him and Sarah Salvatore into his dangerous plan."
Lastly, Sheriff Forbes will take a turn for the worse, sparking speculation that she will be the next to die.
