Naga Shourya's Telugu movie "Kalyana Vaibhogame" has decent opening and the movie made better collection than Priyanka Chopra's Bollywood movie "Jai Gangaajal" at the US box office in the first weekend.

"Kalyana Vaibhogame" is one of the four much-hyped Tollywood movies like "Guntur Talkies," "Shourya" and "Shiva Ganga," which hit the screens this week. Abhishekh Pictures, which has bought its overseas distribution rights, released the movie in 74 screens in North America. The distribution house also held premiere shows of the movie in several locations across the country Thursday night.

The Nandini Reddy-directed family entertainer witnessed a decent amount of footfalls in the premiere shows. "Kalyana Vaibhogame" registered a good amount of occupancy on Friday and collected approximately $39,237 at the US box office on the first day (including Thursday premieres).

The Naga Shourya starrer garnered a positive response and the word of mouth helped it go on strength to strength on Saturday and Sunday. "Kalyana Vaibhogame" has collected $142,011 (Rs 95.51 lakh) from 68 screens at the US box office in the first weekend, according to Bollywood Hungama. Its per-screen average stands at $2,088.

"Kalyana Vaibhogame" has fared much better than "Jai Gangaajal" in its opening weekend. The Prakash Jha-directed Hindi movie has collected $96,098 (64.63 lakh) from 80 screens at the US box office in its first weekend and its per-screen average stands at $1201.

While Neerja topped the US business chart for Indian movies, "Kalyana Vaibhogame" has landed at the second place. The Sonam Kapoor starrer has collected $141,206 from 100 screens at the US box office in its third weekend and its per-screen average is $1,412, which is much lower than that of the Telugu film.

"Kalyana Vaibhogame" has not just overtaken the new releases like "Guntur Talkies" and "Shourya," but has also beaten the 10-day collection of "Kshanam," which hit the screens on Feb. 26. The Adivi Sesh and Adah Sharma starrer, which was released in 42 screens, has collected $111,037 (Rs 74.68 lakh) at the US box office in 10 days.
