New details have emerged in the Twisha Sharma death case. According to an NDTV report, the deceased's mother-in-law, Giribala Singh, allegedly demanded ₹2 lakh during the vidai ceremony in December — an amount that was reportedly paid by Twisha's family at her insistence.

The allegation has been included in the FIR filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which recently took over the probe from the Bhopal Police.

After assuming charge of the investigation, the CBI registered a dowry death case and began its inquiry upon arriving in Bhopal. The agency filed the case under Sections 80(2), 85 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 3 and 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act.

The probe agency is currently investigating allegations of dowry death, harassment, conspiracy and other possible offences linked to the case.
