Canadian lawmakers pin hope on fair elections in Bangladesh

Dhaka, Nov 15 (ANI): Canadian lawmakers are hopeful of free and fair elections in Bangladesh, as tensions mounted due to clash of ideologies between the feuding parties, the Awami League and the BNP that are locked in decades of mutual distrust. Expressing concern over political uncertainty in Bangladesh, a Canadian lawmaker, Russel "Russ" Hiebert said that every nation should seek to strive for peaceful elections. Rampur, Nov 15 (ANI): Visitors thronged the much-awaited 'Lavi Fair' (trade fair) in Rampur city of India's northern Himachal Pradesh state on Monday. This is one of the oldest trade fairs, promoting farm produce, handicrafts and handlooms. The annual trade fair was inaugurated by Chief Minister of India's Himachal Pradesh, Virbhadra Singh in Rampur with much fanfare. This four-day trade fair, which is organised in November every year, is said to be 500 years old and the provincial government also refers it to as an International Trade Fair. The 'Little Master' will bring the curtain down on a glittering 24-year career at the age of 40 when he plays his 200th test match, against West Indies, at his home ground starting on Thursday. Statistically the greatest batsman of all time, Tendulkar's greatness goes far beyond those numbers. The cricket bats made of sand in different colours and the sculpture lured domestic and international tourists who gathered at the beach in Puri, a coastal district of India's eastern Odisha state. For the last time, the superstitious Tendulkar will put on his left pad first, and walk out to bat in India's colours, having long secured his place among the game's greats.Pattnaik, who pinned high hopes on Tendulkar, praised him for his excellence in cricket. The Imambara is considered to be the symbol of brotherhood where people of all faiths throng to pray for the fulfillment of their wishes and desires.
