SC sets deadline for State Govts to regulate acid sales: Victims rebuke State Govts

New Delhi, Dec 03 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Tuesday directed all state governments and Union Territories to frame rules for regulating sale of acid by March 31, 2014. Reacting to the same victims of the gruesome act alleged that state governments were not doing their bit in the matter.

Handwara militant attack ends, 3 militants killed

Handwara, Dec 03 (ANI): The 15-hour gunbattle between the militants and the Army and police forces in Handwara area of Jammu and Kashmir ended on Tuesday, killing three militants, said a police official. Forces launched the joint operation on Monday night after finding that militants were hiding in a forest village in the Handwara region. The firefight entered a residential house which was completely destroyed in the operation. The identification is yet to be established, said police official.

Parties seek extension of winter session to discuss contentious issues

New Delhi, Dec 03 (ANI): In an all-party meeting called by Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar, parties on Tuesday called for the extension of the winter session of Parliament to discuss contentious issues. Senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj said that a suggestion to have a break in the session and resume again after Christmas is under consideration.

Is article 370 a holy book that it can't be debated on, asks BJP

New Delhi, Dec 03 (ANI): BJP Vice President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Tuesday said that Congress should not be bothered by discussion on Article 370 as India is an open democracy and there is always scope for discussions about pros and cons of any issue in an open democracy. He also questioned Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah on non-implementation of Right to Information and Food Security Bill in the state when it's functional in the rest of India. He also added that article 370 cannot be used as a protective sheet over corruption and failure.

Parliament Winter Session: CPI stresses on passing of pending bills

Modi can't repeal Article 370 even if he becomes PM for 10 terms: Farooq Abdullah

New Delhi/ Jammu, Dec 3 (ANI): A furious war of words is continuing over Article 370 of the Constitution, after BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi called for a debate on the issue. Renewable Energy Minister and senior Kashmir leader, Farooq Abdullah has said that even if Modi becomes Prime Minister for "ten terms" he will not be able to repeal Article 370 of the Constitution. Meanwhile, BJP leader, Subramanian Swamy on Tuesday said that it was a temporary provision and it could be repealed with presidential notification. Meanwhile, senior CPI leader Gurudas Dasgupta has said that it is a ploy to create communal tension in the country.

AAP files complaint to EC against cash & liquor distribution

New Delhi, Dec 3 (ANI): As Delhi goes to polls on Wednesday, the Aam Aadmi Party has filed a complaint to EC against the attempt by its rivals to woo voters through distribution of cash and liquor. The Aam Aadmi Party has uploaded a video shot at Ambedkar Tikona Park in Badli Gaon and says the liquor bottles in the video were meant for distribution among voters by other political parties.

Communal Violence Bill: UPAs attempt to polarize country ahead of 14 Polls, says Jaitley

New Delhi, Dec 03 (ANI): Even as the Ministry of Home Affairs is set to introduce an amended version of the communal violence Bill in the upcoming winter session of the Parliament, Senior BJP Leader Arun Jaitley on Tuesday alleged that the move was UPA’s attempt to polarize the country ahead of the 2014 general polls. Jailtley alleged that there hasn’t been adequate consultation with the stakeholders so far on the issue.
