Kaushambi, Dec 18 (ANI): Even as the historic Lokpal Bill on Wednesday received a nod from the Lok Sabha, and is all set to becoming a law soon after a 40-year wait the AAP said that the whole credit of the 'Jokpal Bill' goes to Congress Vice President Rahul Gnadhi and team BJP employed in Ralegan-Siddhi.

Lokpal Bill passed: Congress livid on historic day

New Delhi, Dec 18 (ANI): Speaking on the passing of Lokpal Bill in the Lok Sabha, Union Law Minister Kapil Sibal said that it was a historic moment for the country. Speaking on the same Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi said that the Lokpal was a necessity to fight corruption however it won’t happen with just one bill; and that the Congress had many more bills in pipeline to be passed.

India says committed to Vienna convention, seeks same from the US

New Delhi/ Mumbai, Dec 18 (ANI): India on Wednesday said that it is committed to the Vienna convention that shields the diplomats while seeking its implementation from the US side as well in the diplomatic spat that threatens to strain otherwise warm ties between the two nations. Spokesperson of Indian Foreign Ministry, Syed Akbaruddin, said India was committed to follow the rules laid down by the Vienna Convention and expected the same from other countries. Earlier on Tuesday Indian police removed concrete security barriers outside the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi in apparent retaliation for the treatment of Indian diplomat Devyani Khobragade who was strip-searched after her arrest in New York last week.

No change in interest rates, RBI governor says may act on off-policy dates if inflation does not mod

New Delhi, Dec 18 (ANI): Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Raghuram Rajan surprised the financial markets by keeping the repo rate, or the main lending rate, unchanged at 7.75 per cent. Rajan unexpectedly kept the country's policy interest rate on hold despite calling current inflation too high, citing the prospect of easing retail prices and its concerns about the weak domestic economy. The RBI had been widely expected to lift its repo rate by 25 basis points.
